Leicester held to 0-0 by 10-man Bournemouth in EPL

- Reuters picLEICESTER, Jan 3 - Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri vowed to treat his players with champagne following their 0-0 Premier League draw at home to Bournemouth yesterday.

Ranieri admitted he did not expect to reach his goal so soon but now wants his men to eclipse it in the second half of the season.

"When you have a chance to score and didn't score that is not good but we reacted very well".

A huge turnaround for the Foxes this season has coincided with the history of Bournemouth, producing a meteoric rise to the top (one team in terms of league - another in position in the table) and making their doubters look foolish.

Again Vardy had raced clear of the Bournemouth back line, but with the Foxes' No.9 about to pull the trigger Francis appeared from nowhere to wrap his leg around the player and poke the ball away from danger.

And, despite a disappointing 0-0 draw against 10-man AFC Bournemouth, the Italian is in the mood to celebrate.

After a superb run in the first half of the season, Leicester are enduring a rare stumble and Ranieri's team have now gone three games without a win or a goal.

"Everyone is saying 'top of the league, top of the league' but we are running a lot".

The Cherries were given a massive scare in the 26th minute when Jamie Vardy struck the post with a powerful effort from the centre of the box.

In an open and entertaining game Vardy could have put Leicester ahead in between those two moments. The second opportunity fell to Gosling, who scooped over the bar from 12 yards after King had outpaced Robert Huth and rolled the ball perfectly into the midfielder's path.

Wes Morgan fired over from the resulting corner as the cracks began to appear in the Bournemouth defence.

The England striker took a good touch to get the ball out of his feet and looked destined to score but saw his toe-poked shot cannon off the inside of the post and away to safety. Ranieri sought to up the Leicester attacking ante by sending on Shinji Okazaki to replace Marc Albrighton.

The penalty call. Such a big decision and replays suggested Andre Marriner got it wrong.

"For me, Simon has a difficult job there".
